Is it worth a separate trip?
The bridge itself takes a quarter of an hour to walk. The visit is really the bridge plus the canyon walk below it, plus one or two of the add-ons — the zipline, the slide — which together fill an afternoon. The design is by the architect Haim Dotan. The bridge was briefly closed in its first fortnight in 2016 because of the crowds, which tells you two things: it is popular, and you should book.
Tickets: three ways in

- Booking is required and tickets are named — bring the passport you booked with.
- The bridge stays open in rain unless the park issues a notice for the day. Check the day’s notice before you set out.

Getting there from Wulingyuan
The canyon is about 30 km from Wulingyuan town and about 55 km from Zhangjiajie city. By car from Wulingyuan allow 20–45 minutes depending on the road and traffic. Most visitors go by private car or with a driver; combine it with a morning in the park or make it a relaxed half-day of its own.
Bungee and zipline
- Bungee — from the middle of the bridge, 260 m above the canyon floor, open since December 2020 and run by Bungy China. ¥1,998 for the jump, half price for a second jump the same day; Visa and Mastercard are accepted on site. The operator sets the age and health rules.
- Zipline — 190 m long with a 21 m drop, ¥30.
- There is no commercial rope swing or cliff swing at Zhangjiajie.
The “glass bridge breaking” videos
Clips of glass bridges “cracking” underfoot circulate online; the well-known ones are deliberate visual effects installed at other attractions. The Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon bridge has operated continuously since 2016 with capacity limits on the bridge at any one time.
